Stubborn crank pulley key pin. HELP!

Hey I'm working on a corolla and I have a leaking oil seal behind the crankshaft timing gear. I have removed the crank pulley with no trouble, and now I must remove the timing belt gear to get to the crank oil seal for replacement.

I can't get the key out of the crankshaft to slide the crank pulley off. What is the secret method? This can't be that hard, I've removed plenty of these pins on hondas with my bare hands.

Don't you just grab the pin with your hands and pull it out? I must be missing something because this pin won't come out. I don't want to mangle it anymore with pliers, and i have tried a buncha things.....

air-hammer around the pin
penetrating lubricant (you never know)
hammering the pin from side to side
hammering down on the pin
the list goes on.... this is driving me crazy.

I need my car back together so I can go about my business, please post any experience you have with this. Here are some pictures, how the F do I get this b!tch-pin out?

thanks much TN

HALPS!!!11!

The gear comes off FIRST! The key is held captive by the gear.

If the gear doesnt slide off its rusted. (probable from your pics) Use penetrating oil and LIGHT tapping to get it loose. It might take some work to get around your pry marks.

Dont forget to clean the surface the seal rides against. Oil deposits and burrs will destroy a seal quickly.

you can use a chisel and just put it behind the gear, a light tap with a hammer should break it loose.
