Hi I have an automatic 94' Corolla DX (7AFE) and I am going to swap a manual tranny in it. I'm grabbing a C50 trans out of a 94'ish Geo Prism from the junk yard. I was wondering what I could use from the Geo and what I need to completely swap/convert my Corolla. Thanks a lot!
To roughly quote my post in that thread - I've never done a 5-speed to auto swap, nor do I know all of the ins and outs involved, but off the top of my head some are the parts you need will be:
It would most likely be cheaper and definitely easier to start fresh with another Corolla, one with a 5-speed transmission, but if you're determined then anything is possible
Good luck!

Well This is my first post here but i just finished my swap last week.
Best way of doing this is with a junkyard car or buy a donor car,
mine was a 4afe tho. Here the list off the top of my head.
- Tranny and tranny mounts
---- Reverse light wiring harness
---- The bolts that hold the manual tranny to the engine, auto ones are not the same(too short)
---- cv axles are the same, at least for the 4afe

This is the best advice. You will THINK you have all the parts and then theres some more you need but the junkyard crushed the car you were taking parts from and all thats left is automatics.
Have fun on your project. Dont forget to install a fresh rear main seal before you bolt on the trans so you wont leak oil later.
To roughly quote my post in that thread - I've never done a 5-speed to auto swap, nor do I know all of the ins and outs involved, but off the top of my head some are the parts you need will be:
* 5-speed gearbox (obviously)
* Shifter
* Brake pedal and clutch pedal
* Clutch disc
* Pressure plate
~~~~~~* Speedo cable (electronic, plug and play)
* Clutch cylinder
* Slave cylinder
* Clutch lines
* Flywheel
* Throwout bearing
`~~~~~~~~~~~~* Transmission mount (there the same)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~* CV axles (identical)
~~~~* ECU (can be worked around but if you change it you will need a complete engine harness as well)
~~~~~~~~~* Possibly a 5-speed oil pan (no need, identical to auto)
It cost me 600 to do it. I did it while doing a silvertop swap. Rewiring is key.

Boost, may you RIP.
A couple things not mentioned though, the engine backing plate. Also motor mounts for the Prizm on the driver side on the tranny are slightly different. You will need the bracket that bolts TO THE TRANNY. They are slightly different or you will have to wallow out the hole Also the rear mount "U" bracket that bolts to tranny is different from auto & manual. Also shift cables.
The main difference between ECU is the body plug connector (3rd plug). It's either 22 pin or 12 pin. Also the 7AFE and 4AFE harness is slightly different as far as sensors go....along with the fact that manual and auto are different so it's best to get a similar year model ECU and harness for a manual. Even still the body plug will have to be cut and spliced. Also wire up the manual clutch pedal switch. The plug wire colors will match up for pretty much all the wires and you will have a few remaining due to the Auto ECU wires not being used. a couple of those wires will be the wires needed for the clutch pedal switch
Can the swap be done using the 3 speed auto 4afe ECU? How can I get that to work?
Also, do you happen to have any pics of some of the needed parts you mentioned (bolts, brackets, plates, etc)? I just wanna make sure I have everything while I have the chance to get it and it really help if I knew what to look for, thanks!
^ I can't say it won't work...but I do know the pinout for the ECU from auto to manual has quite a few differences...not just in the body plug but in the engine harness as well. I klnow because I have compared the pinout diagrams myself! And it would requirte a lot more rewiring. If you want a manual...You need to get the manual ECU to simplify everything.
As far as pics go...I have only a couple when I was collecting parts. But not so much on the motor mount parts
