93 Geo Prizm A/C problems
I bought my Geo over the winter knowing that the A/C didn't work, but thought I wouldn't really mind. Well now that it's 93 and 50% humidity outside... I mind. So I've been trying to fix it but for the life of me I don't know what's wrong. Here's what's going on:
- When I press the A/C button, the engine revs go up
- I never hear the compressor clutch engage
- The light on the button does not come on, though it may just be burnt out
- I've checked all the fuses I know to check, and they're all fine
- The relays I don't know how to check... they're black boxes, how do I know if they're blown?
Since this car is R12 I bought some Freeze12 and an R12 hose, thinking that would be a good idea. After a lot of research I found that the "S" on the compressor means "low pressure" and hooked it up. Nothing. The Freeze12 stayed in the can and the compressor never clicked on to pull it out. So now I'm at a total loss!
Anyone have any ideas? This car gets to be a trillion degrees when left in the sun!!
