Fuel Hose Leak

I have a leaking rubber fuel hose under my hood. I was wondering if I remove the EFI relay in my fuse box is that enough for me to now remove the old fuel hose without spraying gasoline all over the place? I am not very good with cars as this is my first but I am trying to learn.

Yes you can remove the EFI relay and attempt crank the engine a few time to relieve the fuel pressure. You can then disconnect the line without fuel spraying. However, due to gravity and siphoning effect, gas can still flow (not spraying but a small flow) depending where you disconnect the fuel line. If the disconnect point is located below the fuel tank elevation, then gas will flow out. That is what I observe last year when I replace my entire fuel line

I know from experience, fuel will always leak out a little no matter what you do...whatever you try just changes how much/little comes out lol.

I would change it soon anyway though.

if you take the line loose at the fuel sender under the back seat it won't siphon.

Thanks for all the info guys, after trial and error I finally got it done this morning. It was pretty difficult clamping the hose in such a tight space.

just make sure you used the right kind of line for this repair. I used 'fuel line' when I had to repair steel line at the fuel filter...after a few years it began to seep and leak! you need EFI fuel line which has an inner liner and is impervious to pressurized fuel.
