Just installed a tach on my 94 corolla. Gauge illumination works, gauge works, but now my stereo won't turn on. Too hot to troubleshoot it outside right now. Any ideas? Could it have to do with disconnecting and reconnecting the negative battery cable a few times?
Negative. Fuse is good. Cigarette outlet still charges my ipod. And the face and volume dial do glow dimly, so illumination is still working.
Is it an aftermarket stereo? If so, check the fuse on the back of the stereo itself. It might be something completely different, but it's best to start with the simple things first.

I had an issue with the ignition hot wire taking a bit shit on me when I installed my after market radio.. I had to hot jump it at the cigarette lighter.

I don't know, but last night, I stopped at taco bell on the way home from a friend's house, and the car wouldn't crank when I went to leave. I had to call the guy and have him come give me a jump start. This is weird.
I'm going by the tech school I went to before today. Gonna ask the teacher if he'll let someone load test my battery and alternator. Wouldn't make sense if it was the battery because It was just tested at 600+ CCA a few months ago. I'm hoping It's just a wiring screw-up on my part.

Judging by what you said in your last thread, you hooked the positive wire for the tacho straight to your battery, meaning that it's always giving it power and will drain your battery. You need to hook the power wire up to a switched source, such as your cigarette lighter, clock etc.

Yeah, went to the tech school (after having to be jump-started again). They charged the battery, load tested it, and load tested the alternator. All was fine there. Wiring the tach directly to the battery was my screw-up. Was creating a parasitic load on the battery, draining it even with the car off. Disconnected the tach, and I'll re-wire it CORRECTLY (red wire to something that only gets hot with key on, and a proper ground away from the terminal). Battery got drained again last night, had to het jump-start again, so I bought a charger and it's been charging since last night. Hopefully all it needed was a full charge and the tach to be wired correctly.
