gen 7 Grilles, Grilles, Grilles and more Grilles

There are So many grilles That I have seen for our cars, and personally I cant make up my mind.

Ive seen plain grilles pained grilles, mesh, aluminum, and even some weird lighted ones, but I dunno what to do. Right now, Ive got the stock grille that I painted black, as you can see here:

(it looks really dull in this picture, its actually a semi-gloss black)

I was considering painting it Gloss white, to match the body color, the only issue I see with that, is the black weather stripping that sits atop the grille and lights (attached to the hood) I am afraid it will look bad, any ideas?

Also, post your preference for grilles, or ones you do not particularly like etc.

it wont look bad... but it will have to come down to if it looks good to you, just try it out if you dont like it you can always paint it back black... if you can you can just paint the frame of the grill in white and leave the inside (the fins or flutes) in black... so go ahead and experiment lol.

I reckon you should paint it entirely in Super White II to match the rest of the car. If you've got any left over paint, perhaps you could paint your mirrors and door handles too

There's a member by the name of trd808 who painted his grille and it looked good. Here are a couple of pictures that he posted:

^ Looking forward to seeing the results. I was actually speaking about grilles with Kaitaiya the other day. He showed me this photo (the one on my Corolla is the third one in from the right, with the chrome edging and 'C' emblem). There are also a couple of other styles out there, but the grilles in the photo below are the best looking ones in my opinion:

Ignore spotlights, but my grille came painted as body colour from the factory. Note the black weather strip doesnt look too bad...

I quite liked the painted grille.

Your end result should look something like this

Doesn't really look too bad at all.

i see someone's been using my pics if you want grills lemme know i got MANY JDM ones. lights to match.
BTW those grills in the pic only fit the japan lights. the curve next to hte lights are different than the US lights

also the paint code should be 040 super white (not super white 2). my wife's car is that color. here's a pic with the kouki lights and the touring wagon grill.

and one pic with the same lights with the C grill

Yeah that's always been a little sketchy. It depends what it's called on the paint shops database. I've been to places where they simply call it super white, but other places I've been to call it super white II (to differentiate from the white that was used on the early 1980s models). As long as you just give them the 040 paint code then there should be no problem

So, the Grille is painted and drying, And I think i may want to paint or 'glaze' the emblem, If I do that, I will want to do the ones in the rear, how hard is it to pull the rear emblems off ("Toyota" and the toyota logo)?

EDIT: the grille is way more white then the car, So Im gonna go see if I can get some paint matched (this way Ill have touch up paint too)

EDITEDIT: so i remembered the emblems are taped on, or glued or something, unlike the old chevys I am used to.. and I got some Dupli-color perfect match paint in my exact color.. will update later.

STILL need a good idea for the emblems (wanna make them black)

EDIT: im all done, spent all day working, and have a few DIY's to write, so be looking for them!

sorry didn't reply sooner. got tied up at the hospital over the weeked.

paint code should be 040(for your white), you should be able to get it from your jobber. the middle rear emblem i believe there are 2 studs that locate it on the trunk other than that it's adhesive. a guy here did the black out on his 08 corolla and it looked good.
