Ebay 'projector' headlights, what're the plugs and bulbs?

So it's that time again, time to do something new with headlights. Putting the projectors in will mean I've had all three styles of aftermarket headlight installed at one point or another--and also leave me with a set of H4 headlights and working dual-beam relays, if anybody wants them PM me and we'll talk--but what bulbs do these projectors take? I've seen scattered references to them using a H1 bulb but nothing I'd consider canonical.

If anybody's had experience with the wiring of these, please chime in.

Not entirely sure what I'll wind up doing with the outside set...fog lights? DRLs? An extra low-beam oomph, perhaps. I'm also not thrilled about the spider-eye look but who knows...they're suitable for eventual HID projector retrofitting, which is the most output I'm gonna ever get short of a Group B Stratos-esque lightbar.

Topnotch has those headlights installed on his Corolla. Perhaps he'll chime in at some stage. He posted pics in this thread:

Off in experimental territory again, eh? I'll take pictures and write up what I find for the sake of us TNers, then, as always.

H4 wouldn't make sense, though, not with two separate enclosures. That would be awesome, though. Low beams would be a H1, low of the H4, and whatever the outside lights fit... lights like that, you could go poach nightcrawlers just about anywhere.

Everything's shipped (got the smoked bumper lights as well) and should get here on the 3rd, I'll have more info then.

How the hell did you wire it to get everything coming on? Right now I've got a set of homemade relays that turn on low or high of my H4s based on the output to the stock bulb sockets...Toyota was lovely enough to give us a negative-switched low and a positive-switched high, making the entire rigamarole necessary.

The only thing I can think of is to set up yet ANOTHER relay, normally closed, that uses the output of the first relay to the high terminal on the H4 as the control circuit and feeds voltage to the 9005 socket straight from the battery (with a fuse) once that control circuit is completed.

Otherwise you're trying to put the full load of a high-beam H4 AND another 55/65 watts from the extra 9005 on the stock harness, and doubling wattage = meltage.

You just wire them up? I never had any problems. I didn't use relays either. My headlights came with H4 jumper sockets that matched up with the stock harness.

Didn't need relays either.

The lights are made with HID's in mind... not running regular bulbs.

Iiiiiinteresting. Did you ever try them with just regular bulbs? I, uh, am a little short on funds to convert to proper projectors (D2S) /HIDs at the moment, so I may have to improvise.
