Manual Window fix?

I have a 1993 Corolla base model (1.6) with manual windows. The cable came out of the window guide and although I can fix the guide to hold the cable, I cannot get the cable back on the pulley.

I can get one side on the pulley but the cable does not seem to be long enough to go over the other side.

Do I need to purchase an entire window regulator? or is it possible to fix the one I have.

This is for the front passenger side window, manual crank.

I found a replacement on the net but it is $65 dollars. The car is old so I would rather just fix the regulator I have.

Thanks in advance,

I'd say if you take it out and try fix it out of the door it would be easier?

assuming the doorcard it taken off seen as you tried firing it, there should be 4x 10mm gold/brass looking bolts in the middle of the door, and 2 on the bottom of the window.when these are all unbolted you can take out the reg.just be careful to gently place the window down on a table or nearby.

fix the reg, reverse process.

I assume that when out of the car you'll see how to fix it easier.you can move the reg by hand I think, and then try work the cable back on

Thanks for the response. I should have mentioned in the first post I already had the regulator out of the door. I just couldn't stretch the cable long enough. Last night I removed the plastic clip on the bottom, yes I know, it's not designed to come out. I remounted a little shorter with a hose clamp. Seems to work just fine. Everything is back together. If it breaks again, I will have to break down and buy a regulator. I will visit this site to find an online supplier.
