Where does this cap go? Photo

Hi

A squirrel was busy under the hood of my 97 Prizm. Besides munching on wires it also popped off some caps (Brake fluid, AC) and a one inch diameter black cap found on the ground roughly under the air filter.

Where does it go?

It has the letters "AISIN" molded on the top. Looks like it was designed to keep water & dirt out of a vent.

BTW, anyone have a new squirrel discouraging technique? I keep this ultrasonic motion detector under the car when it's parked but it didn't scare this one away!

Thanks

It looks like the little rubber grommet that covers the tensioner bolt on the bottom cover.

That's what it was. It snaps over the vent hole on the cap

Thanks

How about hot sauce? won't kill the animal but surely it won't mess with your car again after that first taste.

I understand they can't tolerate chile powder.

But it's not clear how to apply it so that it so it's effective, but can't get in the eyes of any mechanics that work on the car in the future.

Maybe mothballs, I've seen people do that when they store their lawn equipment outside, but I don't know where you could safely put it in an engine bay.

The sauce will get kinda dry after awhile but still effective when those creature chew on it. Put a sticker to warn the mechanics.
