Where does this wire go?

On the highway yesterday, my '93 Corolla started running on 3 cyls. Limped home and popped the hood and found that half of the alternator belt had come off. One wire was hanging down in the area and I'm not sure where it came from. Can anyone help? It looks like a ground and it is the one resting on the oil cap in the pic. Could this be the cause of running on 3 cylinders? Engine is a 1.6L. TIA!

Thanks steel, replaced the nut and reattached the ground. Replaced the plugs, wires and the alt belt and she runs like a top again!
