1996 1.8 skips with load

CAr has 211,000 miles, Last weekend car sputtered and quit. It had no power and would not start. Thought mabe a fuel problem, put 93 and Lucas "real" fuel treatment in tank. This allowed it to idle, but when applying pressure to gas pedal it would cut out and a puff of smoke would come out on the air intake. Thought TPS didnt work. Tried spark plugs Bosch +4, plug wires, cap, rotor and a coil pack. This made it start and run fine............BUT there still is a miss under load, i can get it to do it constantly when i apply pressure to the brakes and floor the car. Lastly i have replaced the fuel filter. Please help if you can, i am lost now and sensors are expensive.

sounds like a bad fuel pump or map sensor. check fuel pressure or just replace the pump. if you pull the vac line off the fuel pressure regulator does it get better?

Thank you for the reply!!
I have no way of checking the fuel pump but it seems good...after replacing the filter it started with 2 keys turns? There is a slight higher idle when taking off the vac line to Pressure Regulator but other wise runs the same. I took the wire connection off the MAP it ran like crap but similar to the main problem? i took the vac line off the MAP and it cuts off.

i meant....
plug the line to the fpr and see if it runs better. if it does then you have an issue with not getting enough fuel pressure. you don't want to make a vacuum leak, so when you take the line off the fpr you need to plug it with something.

Get rid of the Bosch plugs and get NGK or ND. The Bosch's dont last very long and are problematic.
