I have a 1995 corolla that didn't come with rear speakers and I'm trying to install some 6x9 Kenwood speakers. I fitted it into the rear deck and made it look somewhat decent. Now I just need to wire them up and I'm not sure where to start. One thing I do remember is that there was a small green wire that ran to the back of the car, which I'm guess may have been for some rear speakers but it wasn't connected anywhere out back. I just would like to know what I have to do and what I need. Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated!
Here are some pics of what is going on with this mission:
if you're unsure about this wire that is supposedly there, just run new wires.
all the plastic side panels are clip-on, so easy to pop up and hide the rear speaker wires.I would run them along the passo side (right hand side).
then you just need to splice them into the wires of the stereo and crimp on connections for the actual speakers.
from what I recall on the ISO connection block, the purple and green I think are the rear speaker wires...
btw why is there no aerial in the back of the HU?

He's talking about the plug for the aerial which gives reception for the radio (the hole to the left of the RCA plugs in your last photo). As for running the wires, just go under the plastic panels like Steelballz mentioned. The wires will lead from the head-unit, under the glovebox, under the front passenger's side skid-plate, under the seatbelt/pillar cover, under the rear passenger's side skid-plate, under the plastic panel by the rear window (or under the benchseat), into the trunk and to the speakers.

This car actually never came with back speakers so I'm pretty much starting from scratch. I was really looking into just picking up a rear deck with factory speakers in them and upgrading though to keep the stock look but this'll do at the moment lol
Demonics12: Thanks for that diagram though, that should help.
Oh yeah btw what type of wires should I use? I just want to make sure before I start.
Dont ALL these cars come with speakers in the back?
You need to find where they went. If they are hacked off and left bare it could short out and fry your radio.

Ever since I've had the car, it was just a clean carpet deck with no speakers in them. The radio I have came from my friend's civic that had back speakers.. would the difference of putting back speakers in my car effect that stereo?

it wouldn't effect the radio as such, but there will be the green/purple wires at the back of the radio if it has an ISO connection (square connector), making it easier to wire in rear speakers

it must depend on the country the car was sold in, about 50-60% of corolla's in Ireland are the base-spec 1.3 xli corolla (be it hatch, saloon or estate)...manual everything, but you find it hard to find one that actually has little pockets in the rear of the hatches instead of speakers, as with the saloon...the estates were never too popular here lol

Yeah, all of the sedans did as far as I know. The USDM sedans came with either the 6.5" or 5.25" rear speakers (same as the NZDM base models over here), whereas the JDM SE Limited and GT models came with box type rear speakers (much like surround speakers for a home theatre system) which sat on each side of the rear deck and only had small holes cut for the wiring to pass through. The box type speakers in my SE Limited sedan had been removed when I bought the car, so I replaced my rear deck with one from a Sprinter when I installed my Sprinter GT folding rear seats as I wanted to maintain the clean look with no holes (as the Sprinters never came with factory rear speakers).
