95' clunk noise front passenger side when making a sharp right turn.

Hi guys,
New here and looking for help. Just bought a 95 with 135k on it and now when under normal driving conditions the car sounds great. But, when I am making a sharp right turn the car makes a big clunk noise once in the turn and once when correcting, sound is coming from front passenger side. Is it a ball joint? Strut? Cv joint?

Also does anybody know why my trip odometer does not work but regular odometer does?

Depends on how many clunks you get per revolution of the tire but I would bet on a bad cv joint, or maybe a wheel bearing or upper bearing plate

Check the CV shaft first. Then the wheel bearings.

Welcome to the forums! Sounds like the teeth on the small gear for the trip meter have torn off or worn away. This can happen due to the factory oil on the gear turning into goo, which causes the teeth to not be lubricated properly. Pushing it while driving can break it in some cases too. You should just be able to replace the gear and it'll be as good as new. Most odometer repair shops will be able to sell you the replacement part, just be sure to count the number of teeth on the gear to ensure you get the right one. Alternatively, just replace the entire instrument cluster

Thanks for the tips guys. Now after further inspecting? Well nit much further, I did a test drive and did three right circles and it made the clunk once in the beginning of the first circle, the drive out and no more noise until u made a soft left into my driveway.????? I also popped the hood and noticed that the side that makes the clunk, at the top of the strut the black rubberish price at the top mount is busted up and looks like the strut wants to pop out the top. Can the strut really make this kind of noise?

Your car is unsafe to drive in that condition. Hitting a big bump can cause the strut to come out of the upper mount. Fix it right away!!!!

Is that the source of my problem? Is it repair that I can do myself. I have proper basic tools and the oreily has that part, but does the job require strut compressor or any other specialty tool? Is it a hard fix? I just dint have the kind of cash to go to a mechanic.

Got the problem fixed. Strut mount was way busted and was just the weight o the car holding the strut in place. So got both mounts replaced as well ad the struts. Ran me 360.00 and a few hours at the mechanic. Thanks for the help guys.

Glad to hear you got the problem fixed you replaced both struts? Was it necessary? Or just being precautions

Just precautionary. Car has 137k and didn't look like they had ever been changes. Rides nicer now.

shows the front mounts at $36 each. i know i gotta do these on my wife's car here soon. but i'll be doing the work myself.

Well the 360.00 also included new struts as well. So parts alone came out to about 220.00 with tax.

then that's not too bad. just about right. if it were only the tops at $360 i'd probably have had a heart attack..
