My baby got hit too :(

Not too bad...big monster truck with 5' lift did not see me in front of him and his gigantic tire basically rolled over my rear bumper and so the bumper cover got bent and down and broke the taillight lens. How do I remove the bumper cover? screws in the wheel wells and then just pull and it should pop off? Are there any screws/bolts inside the trunk?

Thanks. Figure I might as well replace it and then do a $50 rolled on paint job LOL

oh yeah, does the slimmer profile JDM rear bumper fit like USDM bumpers? maybe I'll get a JDM one

yeah but since we were in a hurry to get into the concert, me knowing how to replace bumpers and work on cars, I asked for some cash so he gave me $200 cash LMAO. If I decide to repaint the car, I can get a primed bumper for like $80. Less headache to deal with insurance companies and shops that would charge $3k to fix it when the car is worth like $1500 bHWHAA

Damn, sorry to hear that. I was expecting to see a lot worse, so I'm glad the damage is only minor. As for the replacement bumper, yes a JDM rear bumper will fit straight onto your USDM Corolla . They look a lot better in my opinion

Well glad you got some money for it. Yea insurance companies are a pain, they probably would have total your car, and give u 600 for it. Hope all goes well.

If the shipping was affordable and practical I'd send you one in a heartbeat. There's a guy in my city selling one right now for only $100 NZD ($70 USD). I've been thinking about getting it but I sort of prefer the look of my JDM SE Limited bumper better. I've had quotes to send bumpers to the states in the past and they all came to $600+, and that's just shipped to the airport . I hope you manage to find one over there.

Here's the one over here I was talking about:

Are you sure about that?

North American versions of the Corolla come with rear rebars for improved crash protection. They protrude quite a bit from the rear chassis. It looks to me like the crash bar will have to be removed or modified in order to fit the lower profile JDM/EDM rear bumper.

Not something to be done if you live in an area full of bad drivers IMO.

Yep, I'm sure. It's been done before. Yeah you'd have to remove the crash bar before it would fit on, but the mounting points are the same.

This thread contains some great info on other bumpers you can use with little to no modification necessary:

Was able to move the bumper up.. only a 1/8" gap lower than the right side but not that noticeable.

You will have to remove the mud flaps. Then there are plastic clips along trunk edge. Push the center of the clips down and then pull them up. But you probably know that already.
You should slide the bumper cover backwards to release the fittings on the sides.
There are pins with rounded ends extending from the sides of the body that slide into a plastic U-shaped fittings in the bumper. Actually it is the bumper fittings that slide onto the pins really

Thanks I have not replaced the left rear tail light yet, but the bumper is back up. I'd take your offer but I can get a replacement light here at the junkyard as there are plenty of them. Thinking of going with red/white ones now. Shipping from Ireland may be too much for me lol
