Very common. They typically crack straight through the middle, right the way around. It happened to mine about a year ago, so I got the crack professionally welded but it started cracking through again. The engineer said that it's due to the way it had been cast from factory. In the end I just decided to upgrade to headers so that it didn't happen again (and for the obvious performance gains). 90% of the Corollas I've seen in the junkyards have had the same problem, although a small handful of them are fine. They seem to have fixed the problem when they launched the later model Toyota Levin (JDM) as I haven't seen a single one of those cracked on either the 4A-FE and 5A-FE engines.

Could you take a picture of how the headers look and the two flex pipes?
Yeah, no problem . I've actually got some photos I took a while ago. Don't mind the paint flaking off. It's a heat protective coating that was applied quite some time ago, and needs to be done again as it doesn't last forever:

So i guess it's not a problem not to have a heat shield. As the stock manifold comes with a shield. You haven't had any problems with like over heating or melting around the exposed pipes??

No worries . Nope, no problems in terms of the heat. It's had heat protective paint on it since day one which helps to keep the heat in, but I know people who have bare mild steel and stainless headers with no issues whatsoever. My cold air intake piping stays incredibly cool too. Would definitely recommend upgrading to headers. Particularly if you plan on upgrading your exhaust piping and muffler in the future

ya definitely because it's looking like my manifold is cracked and at toyota they want 250+CAD for the part. I found a manifold for 125CAD used. But headers i wouldn't know where to look. Are they custom done?

Yeah mine were custom made as it was cheaper than getting some sent from the US, but they're the exact same design as the ones on eBay.
Here's some links on eBay for some headers to fit the 1.6L 4A-FE (1.8L 7A-FE headers are also available) -
That's pretty much the same thing your running. And it looks like it fits the stock mounting positions.
I was not expecting it to be so cheap though. Is this a bad brand or something?
Yep, those are the ones. Make sure you get the right one for your engine though. Both will work, except the 7A-FE headers will sit a bit lower than the 4A-FE headers. Yeah they're very cheap, but the quality is still good. They're the headers that most people use on their Corollas.

The OBX headers are a copy of the Pacesetter headers which are a copy of the original headers for the 4AGE (from I forget who) with an optional 7AFE flange...same port diameters and centers, just a different bolt pattern.
Mine are OBX and non-coated and completely stock (well, apart from having the O2 sensor bung drilled into the downpipe so it measures ALL O2 and not just the stream from two of the pipes) and, although pretty well heat-discolored, have held up perfectly well under normal Pacific Northwest rainy conditions (and road salt in the Midwest) for years now. Bitter heat-wrapped his a while back and anecdotally a heat-resistant coating makes the power come on about 500 RPM sooner, no big change.
Although it is kind of entertaining to see the steam rising off your hood in a cold rain when you stop.
