Just got mounts fixed

Hello. Some of you may remember me asking about the vibrations in my car. Many of you said that the motor mounts are at fault and even the mechanic said the same thing. I got them reploaced by Toyota OEM mounts. The problem has not went away. What else could it be? The mechanic said that it takes time, is this true? Please help. I feel like I may have wasted my money.

Which mounts did you have replaced?

Was it the entire mount assembly and insert or just the inserts alone?

I'm not sure, I ordered them from a OEM Toyota parts website. I ordered all 4 of them. Could you explain to me what you mean by the whole assembly or insert?

The other thing that could cause shaking at idle is a dirty throttle position sensor...if you have a tachometer, when you're just idling at a light and the car's warmed up (without the AC or turn signals on) do you see the needle fluctuating up and down a little like it's 'hunting' for the right speed, or like you're tapping lightly on the gas?

Damn, I don't have a tach, I drive an automatic. It vibrates when I start the car, when I'm in drive and pressing on the brakes, when I'm in reverse and I'm pressing on the brakes. When I'm in park its fine, It doesn't vibrate when I'm driving, not even when I hit 60 or 80mph. When I shift from park into drive it shakes and also when I shift from park into reverse. What could it be. Is it a bad idle?

I just looked up faulty throttle position sensors. This website says some of the symptoms of a bad tps. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/sympt...on-sensor.html

Bucking and jerking of the car
Idle surging
Sudden stalling of the car engine
Hesitation while the driver of the car is trying to accelerate
Sudden surge in car's speed while driving on the highway

Sometimes I have idle surging and sometimes there is a sudden surge in speed on the highway. For example, there are times that I'm trying to maintain 60mph and it goes up to 70mph. I usually have a hard time keeping the speed at 60 on the highway, I always have to brake and take my foot of the gas.

Sorry i'm not to much help. But i've got the same issue where i shift in reverse and i get a vibration sound. Not in drive though or when i'm driving only in reverse and when i make left hand turns. I've been told it's the engine mounts or torque converter.(which i don't have much knowledge on). I know i have some vibration from my exhaust as well.

Do any of you guys feel vibrations from your cars. I know cars vibrate but is it supposed to be not noticeable? Could it be what I'm feeling is normal for our cars? I wish I knew someone else with a 7th generation corolla. That way I could see how theirs feels.

Can you take a video of the problem and post it?

It happens when I'm braking and the car has come to a complete stop, like at a traffic light.

Ill try to get a video, I'm not sure if a video will pick up the vibration. Most likely if I show thoe steering wheel.

sure sounds like it could be a mal-adjusted TPS or minimum airflow issue (low idle)

You have to start lloking at the obvious first- If the engine internals are no good you wont get a strong idle and it WILL shake and not idle properly.

Do a leakdown test to see if you have leaky valves or rings. If the internals are OK then you can move on to finding an idle control problem.

you say the video you'll take will be from the steering wheel vibrating?
i have the same on my car, bad cv joints (but i'm not bothered to change them at all lol).just as another idea for the vibration, they would in no way affect the idle...

Mine vibrated like crazy and when I had the mounts changed (all 4) it went away immediately. It wasn't a total waste of money since motor mounts will eventually wear out. If the vibration goes away when you're at higher RPM (in Park) it probably is some sort of idle issue.
