4 Speed Auto

I'm looking at buying a 93 Corolla LE. As far as I know it has the 4spd auto. But on the gear selector it has P/R/N/D/2/L the same as my base model 3spd. Shouldn't it have O/D overdrive on the selector or is there a button for the overdrive?

The LE is a 7AFE so it's a 1.8L

There is a button for the overdrive. It is on the shifter. You should be able to see it easily

Thanks. I wasn't looking for the button when I did the test drive. To many other things to think of at the time.

so it also has a 4spd auto. 1.8 came with 4spd auto or 5spd manual. 1.6 came with 3 spd auto or 5spd manual.

Thanks to Kiwi-Corolla. He did a little research and pointed out the difference to me before the other posts.

4 spd auto

3 spd auto

It's kind of hard to see the button on the 4 spd with that photo, but it has the white writing beside the button. The 3 spd does not.

You could also have checked the Instrument panel, There is an O/D off light in the cluster.

I see what your saying. I checked my owners manual and found where the indicator light is.

Also found a better photo of the O/D button on the 4 spd auto.

Interesting the button for the overdrive in the Camry auto faces between the front seats where it is easier for the driver to push it in and out.

This is the location of the OD button on like every car I've driven with an OD button. I find it extremely easy to hit the side-mounted OD button.

I use to own a Chevy S10 truck and the O/D was on the display and not on the handle. P/R/N/OD/D/2/L
