Patch? How? You would need one hell of a sealant. Or welding work. I know that money is tight these days, but f00k it, do what you can until you can get a dirt cheap cat (or just replace with a pipe if that's possible for you).

Like they say if you can weld it you can do it.

Buy a new one. If its got a hole in it it should have clogged by now! Dont bother welding or patching it.

ironically speedy i dont know that it is. when you look through it you can see a pretty strong cone of light from the opening on the other side the mesh's inside are so fine you cant see detail. i dont see any specific areas that have balled up material so unless its coating the whole thing it may be in pretty good shape other then the housing. side note it has 260k miles on it i think. I dont remember ever having to do any exaust work before.

Since its got a bad fuel line ill be droping the tank to replace the whole fuel line and have time on the exaust. also any suggestions on the 40-80$ range of cat converters? im seeing things like these two

If work hasn't been done or for the last 100K miles or so, spending ~$300 on replacing the pipe with catalitic converter for the next 100k+ miles is nothing.

Replacing it, you save gas and everything and your car will perform better
