Rear strut Burst

On my 96 corolla the rear drier side i've noticed oil running down the strut over the back of the brakes and got some drips on my drive way. This is why i noticed it cause of the marks on the drive way. I inspected the strut and when i push down on the car it still bounces back but you can hear pressure releasing? And there is oil all over the place. I compared it to the other side and it's not the came another more.

What has happened? along with what are the consequences of continuing to driving on it?

Thanks in advance

Worst case scenario?

You lose control of the car and get into an accident. Oil on the brakes is a bad combination.

I would get all 4 struts replaced at once as cheap insurance as soon as possible.

I would recommend getting KYB-GR2s.

Since the oil is dripping on the rear drums, the potential for braking problems is relatively low, but it's still dangerous as hell to be driving around on a leaking or blown strut. It greatly affects your handling and you could be in big trouble if you ever had to perform an emergency manoeuvre. I'd get them replaced ASAP. In the meantime, keep an eye on the handling and be extra vigilant on the roads.

Alright so i've been told that, it may be ok to run on them for a short period of time. therefore i've starting to investigate the procedure of change the part and prices on new ones.

Kyb - 140 each
Manro - 139 each
Scrap yards - 50 - 100 each with 2 or 3 month warranties

Or this brand i just found

http://www.primechoiceautoparts.ca/p...tall-mmy-.aspx

It would be free shipping to my place.

Ah decisions, the prime choice ones seem alright because the installation should be faster than the kyb ones where i gotta either buy springs or use the stock ones. just not really sure on the name brand. They have warranty for 6 months

$296 Free Shipping. I purchased some kyb gr2 like 4 years ago. They are great struts for a oem replacement. Ive heard bad things if u pair them with lowering springs. Im stock height so theyve been good to me so far. I your gona replace them yourself your gonna need some spring compressors...And the whole day lol. It was my first time so it took me a while but I learned.

If you have the money, this is an amazing deal:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I want it, but I don't think I'll be able to take that much out of my check any time soon and may just end up getting just the front GR-2s for $70 shipped each (you can find this deal from roadtripoutfitters on eBay).

I definitely need front shocks though, they're starting to bottom out all the time.

That's where I bought my struts from. Best prices on ebay. Spend a little, save a lot.

so i ended up with the prime choice struts...installation went better smooth did both rears. Hardest part was getting off and getting back on the swap bar attachment to the strut.
