topped up with wrong oil

Hi all, I need some quick advice however I must admit I am newborn and am just getting to grips with maintaining my first whip.. I've tried searching but can't find anything. I went a poured 5w-20 oil in my car instead of 5-30. Do I need to go and get it drained and replaced or can I keep running til my next top up?

Did you fill it up or just top it off? Either way is probably not an issue, but just adding a bit of the 5w20 is nothing to worry over for sure.

Its certainly not a topup, lol. I've got an oil issue and it was a full pour on an almost dry engine :-s

Yes I've got an oil 'issue' too LOL.

Anyway you should be wanting to upgrade to thicker oil not thinner!

I run straight 40 because my beast likes to burn.

ANY oil you pull off the shelf that is SAE rated will be OK. Some whine about the weights but going heavy only robs horsepower and covers up other defects.

You're good to go!

What's wrong with covering up defects? I don't want to burn a quart a day so I run thick oil. Doesn't feel like I'm being robbed of anything either.
