hELP! Odd Vibration!

OK... I have ONLY 77k MILES on this 97 and it has a very odd vibration to it.
Its almost like if you replaced the engine with a vibrating sex toy

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... ..........
While excellerating between 0-30 it seems the worst. With my foot off the gas and DEcellerating the vibration goes away.
There isnt any check engine lights. No exhaust leaks. Trans fluid seems good. Engine oil has been changed. Car has a new radiator.

I dont get it!

Checked your motor mounts recently? A lot of people are having this problem regardless of mileage in the past couple months, which leads me to believe that this is about the age where they wear out anyway.

Indeed that is usually caused by your motor mounts.

I replaced both lower mounts yesterday and when I got it in Feb I replaced the passenger side mount because of the vibration on that side. The worst vibration is caused by the passenger side one.

This can also be caused by an exhaust system that has come off one or more of its hangers.

I bought Anchor motor mounts from rock auto and they are awesome. So cheap for a genuine part I can't believe it. The only problem is they don't have the upper driver side transmission mount. Hardly anyone seems to have that one.

Does it do it while idling? Does the engine move around while idling or rock back and forth when you rev it while in park? If yes, it's probably the motor mounts.

Just vibration. And yes it DOES do it while idleing. No rocking though. No moving of the engine.

This couldnt be a gunked up engine could it? Not sure.
Im selling her for $3K and I want it to run well. I had 2 people come over tonight and they both said there was a bad vibration.

How much does it cost to change the motor mounts?

Sounds like your motor mounts are starting to go like the others mentioned. I don't know the specifics of changing them, but I do know three of them are fairly simple (note I don't say easy) and one is a pain in the ass. Sorry that isn't much help.

Go to RockAuto and look at the prices. They have them for about $15 a piece. They don't have the upper driver's side transmission mount. None of the big auto parts stores do. Auto.parts.ware.house carries it though, for the cost of all 3 other mounts (at RockAuto) combined, unfortunately. My car still has a bit of a vibration and I think it's that mount. I could be wrong though, it's possible that the auto parts stores don't carry that mount because it's one that generally doesn't require servicing.

The driver's side transmission mount is the difficult to service one I'm thinking about isn't it? I know the most common one to go out is on the passenger side in the back I think it is.

Well there's the passenger side motor mount, the 'rear' motor mount which is actually 'front lower' IMO, and the rear transmission mount. That passenger side motor mount was THE pain in the ass to do. The other two you just jack up the engine, remove the center support, unbolt the mounts and replace. That's the way I felt about it.

I found that driver side transmission mount:
Amazon Amazon

RockAuto has it too, so does Advance. They just don't list it under Motor Mounts or Transmission Mounts for our cars WTF!

The biggest pain in the ass about replacing it is it's under the stock air box. I have no air box so it will be easy.

The part number for manual trans is 8191.

Thanks again folks

Do we have some kind of diagram on where these suckers are?
Also do we have to remove the engine to change these suckers?

You can't miss em. There's two under the engine in the middle, one in the front one in the back, and there's one on either side on the top, the driver side one being under the air box. You just support the engine/transmission on a jack or two, unbolt and replace.
