gen 7 Crack on the header question

How bad is this crack. Looks much bigger in real life then in pic.... Is it time for new header?

Would this be a good replacement?

Yep, it's time for a new one. The header you posted a link to will work fine, and many people use that style of header on these forums, myself included. Here's the same style but in black:

yep mine had a crack in the same spot, its a good idea to change it as quickly as possible, it is likely to burn a valve the longer you wait

Hey also change your catalytic converter or remove it. I had the same problem and the only reason why the manifold would crack like that is because your catalytic converter is clogged.

Any suggestion for a good catalytic converter that is CALIFORNIA legal?
Preferably that's not crazy expensive. My car is 1993 corolla 1.6L DX.

Sorry I can't help you there because the laws are different there than most of the places in US, plus I don't have a catalytic converter on my wagon.

if you check with the sellers on ebay, most will tell you if its California legal or not Just make sure to double check before you buy

Nice. I have cracked 5 of the OEM style manifolds. Went with the ebay header and no problems since.

damnit

damnit, i bought the obx header for about 200$. Prob the same as that and the obx had the wrong 02 sensor ports that i had to buy a block off for down stream and new universal 02 upstream and splice it on. Oh well seems to be working fine. 210,000 miles.
New transmission at 180,000
head gasket at 110,000.

i was thinking about getting an ebay header to replace my cracked oem manifold on my 93 1.8 dx, but i realized that the header wouldn't pass the smog test in CA because there is a visual inspection portion and that header would fail it instantly unless it had a CARB code to make it legal.

I live in California.... I was concerned about that too... before I put them on I checked with 5 different smog shop. Since there is an O2 sensor and nothing else modded all of them said it will pass. If anything you can always mount the old heat shield right on top to cover it ... or bolt the old manifold back on lol . I really don't think most shops will care as long as it doesn't smog!
