I got rear ended at a stop light today by a Ford F-150. If that wasn't bad enough, the person that hit me got away. Now I'm stuck with a smashed trunk that will be hard to find a replacement for and I doubt my insurance will do anything about it since I didn't get the plate number.

If you look at the part I circled, you can see the shape of the truck's bumper.
Damn, sorry to hear that man . How cowardly of the person to take off . Fortunately it didn't hit your bumper though, or you could have been looking at a cut and weld. I hope you can find a replacement trunk lid for a good price. Best of luck!

Thanks man yeah my car is pretty low. I'm just glad it didn't hit my rear window cause that would suck even more. This year has been a string of bad luck for the car. It's gonna be a pain finding a trunk for it. My only chance of finding one is at a junkyard since the wagons aren't too common here. I can't find anything online. If I don't end up finding one, I'll probably end up selling it and getting a new car...unfortunately. Hopefully I can find another one with 5 speed!
It would be a sad day if you had to get rid of it, but at least you'd be planning on staying loyal by getting another Corolla . I personally like the back of your wagon (pre-facelift) better than the facelift version posted above. I've never really liked the style of the later model tail lights. There was a guy over here with a facelift BZ Touring wagon and he shaved the lights off the trunk which made it look a lot better.

Augh, and to a clean-looking rare wagon to boot...here's hoping you get that fixed and get back on the road. Have you tried www.car-part.com to search junkyards? There are a lot of junkyard chains that will do free between-yard transfers, too, so that might be an option.
sorry to hear about what happened. Do you have full coverage. Even tho most deductibles are 500, im sure that trunk can be had for less.. Maybe try a body shop they may be able to fix it somehow. Try getting a quote u never know.
Kiwi- I like it but only if it has the spoiler. I've seen some without it and it looks strange. It's still drivable but there's rattling sounds in the back and it's probably just broken plastic pieces/clips.
I haven't tried looking at a junkyard yet. I tried looking for one online and they were all for sedans. The driver looked like a girl from high school so I'm gonna check out the high school parking lot later today and see if I can find it. It's a small town so I gotta see that truck eventually...even if they get it fixed I have a perfect picture of the driver in my head. I saw a cop right after it happened and he wrote a police report. As for the insurance, yeah it's 500 deductible for State Farm and I'm going to talk to them either today or tomorrow.

Thanks for that site man. Just looked some up and found a few under $250 but they're so far away (closest is almost 1000 miles). So far I've found red, maroon, blue, gray, and beige. I need a dark green one though...wonder how much it'll cost to repaint it.
Just got back from the insurance people. I have to bring it to a Ford dealer (ironic considering it was a F-150 that hit me) and they're gonna estimate how much it'll cost to fix it. I guess they have a contract with them so they do all the repairs. Like I mentioned earlier, I have to give them the first $500 and they'll take care of the rest. If they can't find the people that hit me, they're also gonna take care of my medical bill when I go see the doctor to get my back and neck checked so hopefully all goes well. $500 is a lot though and I think I can find a junkyard trunk and get it painted for around that much.
I also kicked my trunk open earlier so now it opens and close and the best part is that the all the lights and power locks still work.
So I went to the body shop today to get an estimate and it's going to cost about $1,655 for a new painted liftgate, rear window, and to also fix the rear bumper. I talked to my insurance and I only have to pay the first $500 and they'll take care of the rest. They already ordered the parts and should be here by next week. They had to get the liftgate straight from Toyota since no aftermarket or used ones were available. I'm also thinking of getting my hood repainted since it's faded and they quoted me for $350...is that a good price?
Thought I would update you guys. So I finally got my car back from the body shop after a week. Altogether, it ended up costing around $1600 including labor But I only paid the first $500. They replaced the liftgate and bumper but used the same rear window. I gotta go back there Monday cause there's a few scratches that they need to buff out from putting the window back and fix the seal too. It's depressing seeing the new painted rear end and seeing my hood faded. Can't wait to paint the whole car once I have the money for it.
