Problem: OP want us to do ALL the work for him!

If you plan on working on your own car you need a manual.

While a "common" CEL might be the problem with your car it may not be.

You do some work first. We'll help along the way.

Respectfully posted,

Welcome to the forums! Since you said your car is a 1993, it will be OBD-I. The best thing you can do is get the fault codes, so you know what you're dealing with. Look in the engine bay and you'll see a small black box next to the left hand side strut tower that says 'Diagnosis' on it. Get a paper-clip or a small piece of wire and put one end into the port labelled TE1 and the other end into the port labelled E1 (the labels are found on the underside of the diagnosis box cover, much like a fuse-box).

Turn the key to the 'ON' position, but don't start the engine. If your connections are correct then the check engine light should start flashing. Keep note of how many times it flashes as this is the code it is giving you. For example, if the code was 35 it would flash 3-times, have a short pause, then flash 5 more times, then have a long pause. If it repeats the same code after the long pause then that means it's the only fault detected, but if it flashes for a different period of time then that means there is more than one fault. Take note of any codes it's giving you.

Once you have the code(s), reply back here and I'll tell you what it means. Good luck

Our cars don't have a MAF sensor. It has an air temperature sensor located in the side of the airbox instead. If it's faulty then it will trigger the check engine light and produce a code. Code 24 to be precise

Ok, that's good. That's what it's supposed to do. The flashing indicates the code it is giving you. For example, the code for a faulty oxygen sensor is 21, which would be shown as two 0.5 second flashes, a 1.5 second pause, and one 0.5 second flash. Take note of how many flashes and pauses you get. If no codes are detected at all, then the check engine light will flash continuously with only 0.5 seconds pauses in between.

The meaning of the codes are as follows:

12 = RPM signal (no RPM signal to ECU within several seconds after engine is cranked)
13 = RPM signal (no RPM signal to ECU with engine speed above 1,500rpm)
14 = Ignition signal (no ignition signal to ECU)
16 = ECU control signal
21 = Main oxygen sensor
22 = Coolant temperature sensor
24 = Intake air temperature sensor
25 = Oxygen sensor or circuit (lean)
26 = Oxygen sensor or circuit (rich)
27 = Sub-oxygen sensor
31 = MAP sensor
41 = Throttle position sensor
42 = Vehicle speed sensor
43 = Starter signal
51 = Switch condition signal
52 = Knock sensor signal
53 = EGR system

Cleaning various parts in the engine bay isn't likely to help until you've diagnosed what the problem is by deciphering what the check engine light is telling you . I see you said that you cleaned the throttle body, did you also clean the idle air control valve bolted to the underside of the throttle body too? You'd need to remove the throttle body in order to do that. It may not fix your problem, but it's never a bad idea to clean it.

In addition to what I was saying earlier about counting the number of flashes and pauses of the check engine light, here's a video from YouTube that demonstrates it well and should help to avoid any confusion:

As you can see by the amount of flashes:

The first code is 24 - A fault with the air intake temperature sensor or wiring (the probe going into your airbox).

The second code is 25 - Air/fuel ratio lean. This will most likely be due to the air intake temperature sensor.

The third code is 41 - Throttle position signal (TPS). This is the black unit located on the rear of the throttle body.

Counting the codes is the easiest and most effective way to diagnose a particular problem. Not all problems will produce a code, but some of the most common ones do. So it's always best to start there before taking things apart which may not need to be fixed/cleaned. If you're having trouble figuring out which codes the check engine light is giving you, make a video and I'll decipher them for you

So is your check engine light staying solid? Or is it flashing like in the video I posted? (and like you mentioned in post #8 of this thread). If it's not flashing with the paper clip in the E1 and TE1 ports then the connection must not be secure. Give it a wiggle and try again.

You can upload the video and pictures to PhotoBucket.com. It's free to make an account if you don't have one. Once uploaded, just copy and paste the IMG tags into this thread. If you're having trouble, PM me and I'll give you my email address to send them to instead

EDIT:
Here's a good link explaining how to post pics:

Thanks for the pictures and video. I can see what you mean now. The burning certainly doesn't look good. It may or may not be directly related to your problem, but I'd recommend getting the opinion of a local auto electrician to see what they say. I have a couple of ECU diagrams here if you need them. The fact that the check engine light doesn't flash would typically indicate that there's a short to earth somewhere between terminal W on the ECU, port W on the diagnosis connector and the instrument cluster.
