So I'm planning on getting a quick release for extra security (already have an alarm). I figured my airbags probably don't work anymore since they're almost 15 years old so I decided now is a good time to go for it. My problem is that the only quick release I've seen on 7th gens are the earlier ones that didn't come with airbags. Is there a difference between the 7th gen's hub that didn't come with airbags and the ones that did? I was planning on getting the NRG set with the lock and either a MOMO or Nardi wheel depending on my budget. I read that all NRG hub made for Toyota (and even Scions) will fit my car. I found one that's made for Corollas from 1988 to newer ones so I might end up with that one. I know MOMO makes a hub for my car too but it's not a quick release. Does anyone here have a quick release on the newer 7th gens? If so, what hub did you end up choosing and did you run into any problems? I know my airbag light will be on the whole time and I also want to be able to still use my horn.
No I meant if there was a difference between the one with airbags and the non airbag one that if I install the new hub, something would get in the way where it wouldn't fit. I just talked to Jspex and he said the Toyota hubs are all the same with or without airbags but my horn won't work though. Thanks for the help everyone.

Hmm..yeah the horn won't work because normally it has to be plugged into the horn wires, so if you use a quick release the horn button goes with the wheel that gets removed. I wouldn't do a quick release then, just Momo hub, maybe a spacer, then wheel and horn button.
When I had my little '88 MR2, I did go with a cheap ass quick release piece from ebay. Had Momo hub, quick release, then cheap ebay steering wheel, no horn. I've tried those other cheap Boss hubs, and they suck. Momo one is still one of the best as far as installation goes.
You already know I have a quick release in my 7th gen.
Im using some Generic toyota hub, and an NRG quick release.
Air bag light is still on but im going to rip the bulb out. Annoys me sometimes.

David, I forgot the 93's had a driver airbag haha so they're basically the same then. I heard some people are just lazy and put a black tape over the light instead of taking the bulb out. I'll probably be one of those lazy people.
No, it would be pointless for me to just get a normal Momo/NRG hub and aftermarket steering wheel since the whole purpose of me getting one was so I can remove it for extra security. Putting just an aftermarket wheel would just attract thieves to want to steal it so I would rather have the normal one with the airbag. When I talked to Jspex about the whole horn issue, he told me that the horn wouldn't work because it uses the old Toyota contact style instead of the clockspring wire style on the newer Toyota so I'm guessing ours are the same design as the AE86 era. He said Worksbell is the only hub that would work but it's really expensive. He relocated his horn button on the steering column which doesn't sound like a bad idea. I might still get a quick release anyway since I barely use my horn...actually come to think of it, I don't use my horn at all. The NRG set+lock+Nardi wheel is around $600. That's a lot...but a lot less than replacing your car.

Watch out with that steering wheel, it will NOT hold up in a crash. One of my friends shattered his wrist in an accident with a cheapy stamped steel steering wheel like that. the wheel just folded under the force of his body moving forward and his hand jammed into the dash and shattered his wrist and cut his hand up BADLY. I think he had tendon damage from the instrument cluster plastics around his hand.
You'll miss your airbags one day when granny turns in front of you and you eat steering wheel.
Or when a bunch of Mexican teenagers with no insurance ram you in the back with a huge truck and take off. The way I drive though, my arms are extended all the way (not sure if that's a good or bad thing) but it's just more comfortable to me.

won't matter unless your elbows, shoulders, and wrists are fused and made of schedule 80 chromolly piping.
