Transmission fluid change or leave alone?

The auto transmission fluid in car is the original factory fill, I think. Will changing it now be likely to cause more problems then leaving it alone for another 50k?

Looks like this has been hashed out already:
Automatic fluid is kind of brown!

Is it possible to drain the fluid without putting the cars on ramps / stands like with doing an oil change?

Why don't you just jack up the front end? It would be a major PITA to try to do it without raising the front.

Just changed the fluid in ours earlier this year, with 215K miles on the engine/trans. This was my wife's car before we got married, so I have no idea when it was last changed, but have had no problems out of it whatsoever.

LOL I had a feeling my brown transmission fluid thread would be the link provided.

Don't hesitate, buy a transmission filter kit and a gallon of AT fluid and perform a drain and fill.

Yeah it's actually a pretty easy job. Hardest part for me was keeping the new gasket straight while getting the pan back on the transmission case.

Yeah I did it by myself in my brother in law's garage. I got stuck with the gasket bobbing around everywhere so I called for his help. He came over and put tiny bits of sealant on the outer edges of the gasket. Problem solved.
