1995 toyota corolla cv axle problem

HI IM TRYING TO INSTALL AXLE'S TO MY 95 COROLLA. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE DRIVE SIDE AXLE WOULDNT GO ALL THE WAY IN. IT LEAVES ABOUT A 1/4 STICKING OUT. THERES NO OTHER WAY I COULD POSSIBLY THINK OF AT THE MOMENT. IVE MEASURED THE PART THAT GOES INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND ITS AT 3 1/4. THE PROBLEM IS I DIDNT MEASURE MY OLD ONES SO I DIDNT KNOW HOW LONG THEY ARE. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND MEASURED THE ONE WITH ABS AND STILL ITS THE SAME LENGTH. I EVEN HAMMERED IT AND STILL IT WOULDNT GO IN. THE PASSENGER SIDE WENT IN OKAY DIDNT HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH IT. SO I TOOK OUT A FLASH AND LOOKED INSIDE TO SEE IF ANYTHINGS INSIDE AND THERE WAS SOMETHING BUT IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS FROM THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS BLOCKING THE WAY SO THE AXLE COULDNT GO ALL THE WAY IN. HERES THE PICTURE.

IF YOU HAVE IDEAS IM OPENED TO ANYTHING.
THANKS
JOHN

1st- turn off your caps lock, and never use it again.

That pin you see is supposed to be there.

Some axles are easier than others to get in and out. Keep trying.

Also check the condition of the seal. Your pic isnt good enough to tell if its undamaged.

lube the shaft first
make sure you don't damage the seal inside

here's what u need to do bro:
-smear NEW ATF on the inner driveaxle splines.
-clean up any dirt or rust around the seal area with a damp lint free rag.
-turn the inner driveaxle retaining ring c-clip so the opening side faces straight down.
- hold the axle as straight as u can with both hands and slowly slide it in, u may have to rotate it a little as u slide it in to lign up the inner axle splines with the inner differential side gear, then brace yourslef and give it a firm shove in.
- u can hold it straight in and also use a polyurethane dead blow hammer to carefully hit the outer axle shaft where the nut screws on to. just be sure the axle is straight while u do all of this. keep at it man, it just takes some patience and practice but it will click in if u shove it in straight

Need to address some stuff in the previous post.

Lube splines AND seal. If the seal is dry it can turn "inside out" and leak.

Rust in the seal area will damage the seal. Use emery paper to remove rust and corrosion.

The position of the clip makes no difference, but sometimes the edges can be damaged so check close if you are re-installing a used axle.

I wouldnt use a hammer to finish pushing it in! I have used a hammer and punch on the "step" of the inner joint to knock in any that wouldnt slide in by hand.
