Oil leaking into my cooling system...

Hi I seem to have a major problem on my hands. I have oil leaking into my cooling system. This happened to me a few years back and I replaced the radiator and it seemed to have fixed the problem. Unfortunately by trying to slow down my oil leak, I added some engine restore. It was probably too much for it because I have oil going into my cooling system like crazy. Its not going back into the engine. People have told me its the head gasket. Has anyone had this problem before? How bad is oil in the cooling system?

sounds like the oil is leaking through the headgasket from the oil galleries and into the water galleries, you should really get the gasket replaced

Do a Leakdown test; will tell you if you have a bad headgasket or not. But Like others said, it might be your headgasket. A diagnosis is a must before you tear anything down.

Take off your oil fill cap and look at the bottom (where the threads are). If it looks like chocolate milk then you have a blown HG...

use Nusdogg's advice to confirm the problem, but from your description its almost a given. Very rarely do the "snake oils" actually fix a problem.

DONT FORGET when you have installed the new head gasket, to flush the cooling system. Your cooling efficiency is severely compromised when there is a coating of oil on all the cooling surfaces.
