The fuel pressure regulator is a little UFO-looking object which is found on the end of your fuel rail (the end nearest the oil cap). It's purpose is to keep the pressure in the fuel lines at a consistent rate. It plays a vital role in the way your engine runs. The fuel pressure on your 4E engine should be 33 to 37psi with the engine running and everything attached as normal. With the ignition turned to the 'ON' position but with the engine not running, the pressure should be between 40.8 to 41.7psi.

Only when it doesnt work. They typically do NOT go bad. Your car would have major symptoms if it wasnt working.
