Cig Cigarette Lighter replacement socket. WTB?

Hello all.
I think I need a new cig lighter socket. I have checked the fuse and it is fine. I even pulled the trim and socket out to make sure all the connecters were still tight. Everything seems fine. So at this point, I figure the next thing to do is replace the socket itself.
Does anyone know where to buy a replacement online for cheap? Or anywhere to buy for that matter? I wouldn't guess this is something I could buy at a local auto parts store.

Thanks in advance!
Douglas

Hi Douglas, welcome to TN! Cigarette lighter sockets are quite generic, so you should be able to match another one up at your local auto parts store. If you can't find anything exactly the same then it's simply a matter cutting and joining the wires to suit with spade terminals, however to keep things simple, it may be easier to just contact a local wrecker to see if they can supply one. A small part like that shouldn't cost much at all. Regardless of where you go, take your old one with you as a sample. If you can't be bothered pulling your current one out again then here are some photos I just took of my old socket:

wow....

Thanks for the response. That's good to know they're pretty generic. When I pulled it, it looked way more complicated than just a couple of spade lugs, but I guess that's just the excess wiring surrounding it.
This is a good start.
Thanks!

No problem . Yeah it does look fairly complex when you first look at it. The other plug is for the light bulb. The hardest part is actually getting the socket out of the holder. After a bit of fiddling with a mini flathead screwdriver, it should slide right out

its easily repairable. take the nut off, take it apart, clean the contacts and apply flux, heat them to burn the flux off, then tin them with solder to give a fresh new surface.

There is a difference between a cig socket and a 12V power socket. I don't know why...they both take +12V and GND, both have two contacts, but I melted three laptop DC power adapters in the lighter socket before swapping in a power socket.
