AE101 Doors

I have a 99 model AE101 hatch, seems to be a fair way out of your year guidelines, however that is what it is.

Anyways, i have been told that the doors are interchangeable between the sedan and the hatch is this correct for the AE101 models, cheers,

Baz

Hi Baz, welcome to the forums! It's raining here at the moment, but I just quickly ducked outside and took some quick measurements of the passenger door on my sedan. It's approximately 1050mm high and 1010mm long (taken just above the door handle). I can provide more precise measurements (including the dimensions for the rear door) as soon as the rain clears . I've got car covers on it at the moment and they're difficult to get on and off.

Front doors should be interchangeable between the sedan and the 5-door hatch, rears definitely won't be (they are a completely different shape around the rear quarte window)

Oh, and the reason why your model year is out of whack is because Australia tends to get Toyota models a year or two after Japan and the US - here the AE10x ran from 1994 to 1999 (although they started to sell the imported AE112 from 1998 or so alongside the 101/102)

Thanks for your help guys, i think that description of how toyota models were sold there is much the same as here, the model AE101 i have was the only one sold in 99, all the rest were AE112, but without starting a war AE101 looks better.

The panel shop was saying that the rear doors were the same, looks like it is time for me to find a new panel shop

Don't worry, I think the 101/102 is a much better looker than the 112, although I am a little biased (seeing as how I have one)

Definitely different, the base of the door may be similar/the same but the window frame is completely different - hatch is sharply angled at the rear whereas the sedan's is curved
Hatch

Sedan

They're not - wagon doors are straight along the top, the hatch doors slope down
