hay guys...looking for modding advice

i have a 1993 ae101 corolla fx-gt with a 20valve silvertop 4age..
im looking for some simple mods that dont cost heaaps to get a wee bit more power out of it..

ideas:
replace stock catalytic converter with high flow catalytic converter
take out center muffler
bigbore exhaust tip
pod filter.
relocate battery into boot

would like to here some other ideas from people.. would like to modd intake system more than just podfilter but not sure what i should do. ideas?

one more thing im wondering do the 16valve 4age exhaust manifolds fit onto the 20valve? a person i know has a decent performance one but dont want to buy it just to find out it doesnt fit

Welcome to the forums! First off, don't bother with a high-flow catalytic converter. Just remove the cat completely. It's not a legal requirement here in NZ . Secondly, FX-GT's with a big bore canon-type muffler are way overdone. In my opinion, a high-flow baffled muffler such as a Flowmaster, Dynomax or Magnaflow is a much better choice. As for the intake, avoid putting a pod filter straight on the end of the MAF sensor. This will only draw hot engine bay heat into your ITB's. Either replace your stock filter with a K&N panel filter, route the pod filter outside of the engine bay to make a cold air intake or run aftermarket trumpets on your ITB's.

I'm not 100% sure about the 16v exhaust manifold fitting the 20v, but I know that the 20v manifold can be made to fit the 16v with a bit of modification to the stud holes, so it might work the other way around too. There was actually a guy who listed an aftermarket 20v exhaust manifold on TradeMe the other day for a really good price. Needless to say, it got snapped up fast and has now been sold. The original auction can be viewed here.

There are loads of links online in regards to 20v modifications, so I'd suggest having a browse to get all sorts of different ideas. Best of luck, and keep us updated with your progress!

hi and welcome. sence you mentioned you only want a wee bit more power everything that kiwi along with your ideas will gave you the wee bit power you want, but power isnt nothing if you cant get it to the ground also so having good quality tires, quick shift and performance manual tranny componets can also help get that wee bit power quicker to the ground but honestly if its a street car/track car i would just save up money and buy cams, adjustable cam gears and ECU management like mega squirt or greddy ultimate and tune so that you get maximum use of the upgraded cams and enjoy the cars new found power lol but that is just my opinian because if you someone that likes the feel of speed every now and then eventually the wee bit lil power will become slow to you and you will want to feel more power again, but if your gonna be satisfied with it those ideas mentioned by kiwi will be all you need.
