USA Timing Belt ?

Hey I have 1996 Corolla that has just turned over 76,000 miles, I was wondering when I should do the timing belt replacement?

How much should I expect to pay?

Thanks

Hey, Now:} Cost should not be too much but prices in your area may vary. It is also wise to have the seals (oil, crankshaft, camshaft) replaced and the water pump as well (since it is behind the timing belt). Ball park figure around $500 for everything.

Timing belts average about $45-$55.00. About 2 1/2 -3hrs of labor. rates very from $65.-$75.00/hr.
Since you're apying someone to do this, if your water pump isn't giving you trouble and you're not leaking oil, via crank or cam seals, I would leave them alone.

I'll contradict Jedi in one area- Replace the crank seal. Beacuse it spends its time BATHED in hot oil it will be hard as a rock and may not be leaking now but it will be before its time for the next belt. Its a cheap part and easy to install with the belt off. Water pump has a good longevity and cam seals only get oil splash. (and easy to replace at any time!)
