Crank and cam sensor codes

My son tried starting his car this morning and the starter was lagging. After 3 tries it finally started. He turned it off and tried to restart it;nothing! After about 5 minutes it started and the CEL came on.Had the codes pulled and they read both the crank sensor and cam sensor were the problem.Any others here have this problem? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Sounds about right. From what I found/read, the cam sensor is responsible for firing not only cylinder one of the engine, but also fuel injection sequence. I don't know if one of the sensors was failing, if the other one would take up the slack, and set a code alerting the driver something is wrong.

The 96 does not have a cam position sensor. The crank sensor works in its place, according to the techs at my local Toyota dealership.Anyway,I replaced the crank sensor and it idles so much better and overall runs alot better too.
