heated o2 sensor?

Hi,
I have a 1993 corolla le with 186000 miles on it. It's been a great car but it hates the cold weather. It shakes and sputters and the tach is up above 3,000 rpms for the first 15 minutes of every drive unless i warm it up for 20 minutes before driving and it goes through a ton of gas and seems to have worse emissions when its cold. when the weather warms up, it runs just fine.
so, i was wondering if it's possible to retrofit the car with a heated o2 sensor--i don't think the sensor on it is heated--it has two wires, but it's not the original b/c one of the previous owners had the upstream sensor wires clipped and spliced a new sensor onto it. do you think this is possible & will it help with the way it's behaving in the cold?
do they make sensors with just two wires that are heated? and if it this can be changed, is it just the upstream sensor that i would be dealing with? I haven't looked at the downstream sensor...dunno even if there is one.
any ideas would be great.
thanks!
beth

actually the o2 sensor in the exhaust down pipe is heated from the factory...but not to help start the car or get it running good. Heated o2 sensors won't fix that problem I don't think. Now they do make block heaters that you can probably retrofit a heater kit.

Also you may jus need a tune-up to cure the running issues

The heated and unheated sensors give a different signal to the ECU. You cant interchange. You may have some trouble with the temperature sensor and Idle control that needs to be addressed.
