a/c belt idler pulley

i replaced my a/c belt recently after the replacement i got a screaming noise from the a/c belt idler pulley also its getting extremely hot ( i dont have power steering) i put some wd40 on the pulley the sound dissapeared but i am worried i think this pulley has faield i need advice please?

did you remove the idler pulley or just loosen it to replace the belt? Also did you install it or tighten it back correctly? It would be obvious to me that if I was hearing this after just changing the belt. I would assume I did something wrong. And if so, the bearing may be bad now after running it.

i removed the pulley and installed the belt i checked every thing several times its fitted correctly but i checked the pulley itself ther was slight noise coming from its bearing i think its faulty and need replacement

prolly, i'm assuming u had a reason for changing the belt. And in most cases, if a belt comes off or all of a sudden breaks, then a pulley is usually to blame
