Ported Vacuum Switch?? For a '95 DX 1.8L

Not sure if anyone will be able to help with this mess, but I broke these 2 things while changing the starter on my Corolla the other day (which was the biggest pain in the ass I have ever encountered on this car)... I already replaced the one on the top in the picture, already forgot what it was, but the blue one (which I am told is the ported vacuum switch, which sounds right when compared to pictures on google images) is giving me some problems. No local parts stores even carry it in their warehouse! I can't find it online and I really don't want to go sifting through a junkyard looking for one, but I will if I have to. If anyone could tell me where I can find this part or something that will work in its place... It would be greatly appreciated

Here is a picture I took of said switch.

Hello Super,

I just had a similar problem on a new to me Prizm. The valve is slightly different but the repair should be quite similar. You are working on the TVV (temperature vacuum valve). When cool, the valve is closed. When hot, the valve opens and allows the vacuum to pull "fumes" from the EVAP can. The PO had simply bypassed it on my car and gone right to the EVAP can. I can't tell a difference, but wanted to correct it. If you look at the recent posts you will see one titled "still looking for the gremlin" or something like that. I start with a few photos of the TVV repair.

If you search "yotatech" they have a great DIY thread on the repair. He even uses metal vs. plasitc, probably a little over the top for me. I just looked at it a week ago, but couldn't find it right now. If you search for it, it shouldn't be bad to find. The valve he repairs is almost identical to yours.

Good luck.

Chris

Pull it out and take it to the SMART parts guy. He should be able to pull one off the shelf that will work well.

your best bet would be the junkyard. you know where the valve is located, its not something that people often need therefor it WILL be in the junkyard, you will be in and out in minutes.

Most rollas I see in the junkyard around here have completely stripped engine bays lol, although I did manage to get some interior door handles for my car from one of them xD
