Just pickd up a 94 prizm....... it has 90k original miles on it so its something I want to keep for a while........ how hard is it to put in factory pwr locks n windows all around if I get the set up used ?
I've heard they are, but, when I bought a corolla I was flipping for cash, it had a rear passenger door that was damaged. So I installed a door that was the same color, but it had manual windows and locks. So I was installing a manual door on a Corolla that already had the power windows and locks and HARNESS (manual does not come pre wired as most people have said). I was successful in swappin the window regulator quite easily. You have to drill the hole in the door for the harness to go thru since the manual doors don't come with the hole pre-drilled. But I couldn't figure out how to swap the lock, and since I was selling the car, I wasn't to concerned about it. But I was successful at installing the power window.
Can anybody help me........ I just want to knw if these things came with plug n play........
it will be some work. It would be best to get a manual with the wiring schematic, since some wires for power accessories are installed in the roof of the car. Also, you will need a connection to the battery to run the windows/doors, which may mean cutting through the firewall. Plus, if this is not done right, there is the risk of an electrical short(s), that could cause a fire. IMO, more problems than they're worth.
I can say that I remember there being a couple unused connectors inside the front doors of my non power window and non power lock Prizm, if they were for windows and locks I'm not sure.

This may be true on a Prizm. Prizm's wiring and ECU is different from the Corolla. for some reason GM used there own wiring and connectors. I noticed it a few times when I was robbing parts off of a Prizm for my Corolla. All though location of the ECU and the engine harness was very much the same. I think the connectors for majority of the body harness was different.
just different bodywork between Prizm and Corolla.
Exactly...
^ Say for some odd reason, you needed a replacement ECU and you went to the junk yard and found a comparable Prizm by year, options, and features. You will notice the ECU is mounted in the same location, but the harness connectors are different. At least, thats what I've seen on a Prizm I was robbing shift cables and a shifter out off. The body harness connectors were different.
