IAC help and service manual needed

Hi, First I have read this sticky 5sfe IAC Removal (lots of pictures)

I have a 1997 corolla DX with the 1.8 and auto trans.

I have a stupid question, where do you start to clean the IAC? Do you have to take off the whole throttle body first? or can you leave it on and just take off the IAC, (which would look hard to do) I am a newb at this and I dont want to mess up something on my daily driver. The reason I think its my IAC is that when I first start the car up it idles at 700 or so, but when the car is fully warmed up it idles at 1200 or higher, am I correct in thinking its the IAC???

Thanks, Colin

PS I could also use a repair/service manual for a 7 gen 1997 corolla so if you have a link could you please PM me.

Almost all idle problems originate with IAC. Its always the first step for repair.

Welcome to the forums! You'll need to remove the throttle body in order to gain access to the IAC valve. See my post in this thread for full instructions and an exploded diagram of how everything goes together:
