Please help starter problem

Hey guys so I own a 1995 Corolla dx. The starter has been kinda tweaking for a few weeks like I would have to turn the key a few times to get the car started. Just now as I started the car I heard the starter still turning. I turned off the ignition it kept turning. I had to go get pliers and disconnect the battery just so the starter will quit turning. tried to connect it again and the starter just keeps turning. Need help please. Thanks.

Not necessarily at all. Most likely the copper contacts in the switchbox on the starter are worn. Common problem. Hence the clicking and need to try starting multiple times. The plunger probably got stuck engaged on the eroded contacts. If the starter has not yet been fried due to continues turning it is quite probable that all you need is a new set of contacts.

There is a thread that describes how to fix this. Search for "how to replace starter contacts"

You were right I took the starter out went to check it at kragen. When the machine was checking the starter it gave it a good jolt of energy and the plunger disconnected and it started working perfectly. We put it back in and so far its good but we will need to change the contacts soon. Thanks for the advice.

All right, glad it worked out fine. Just do change the contacts sooner than later. Otherwise you are risking to fry the starter whenever the plunger gets stuck again.
