Rear struts

Hi,
I have 1997 prizm (so essentially a corolla) that has about 118000 miles on it.
Ok, edit to this. I looked at what the mechanic wrote down and he actually said it was my rear upper mount plates were very soft and
that I should have them replaced if I was going to keep the car for a long time. Anyone had issues with these mount plates wearing out?

Not sure but I replaced all of my struts and shocks... front and rear. If you push down on the either rear corner of your trunk and let go and if the car bounces up and down, then you better replace the shocks. Good ones after your release it comes up and stays up.

I put some cheap ebay complete struts on my wagon last week. They were like $65 each.
So far they are working fine my tires dont rub anymore. Pretty easy to do your self if you get the complete struts like I did

I've heard that you should change the mounts when you change the shocks.

I ignored that a couple years ago and replaced just the shocks. A couple months later one of my front mounts broke - the hard rubber just failed and all of a sudden the mount was in two pieces.

IMO - change em.
