Brake Light on gauge cluster Question!

Ok, I have a '95 Geo Prizm LSi. This Sunday the passenger rear hard brake line from the rubber line to the wheel cylinder blew on me and caused my "Brake Light" on my cluster to go off and fluid everywhere underneath the passenger rear wheel, and of course, it's got low brake fluid.

So today, I changed the hard brake line out for a new one I got from carquest, bled the system, and topped off the brake fluid at the resevoir. But, I still have a "BRAKE LIGHT" on my gauge cluster. I even took off my negative battery terminal to reset the ECU for a min or two, but still no luck.

Anybody encounter this issue on their 7th Gen Corolla?? Let me know. Thanks!

Is the parking brake set? Just kidding

I'm not sure how the brake system is set up on the Corolla but there's usually a float or level sensor in the brake reservoir on most vehicle. Because the reservoir ran low on brake fuild, It might be stuck. Try tapping the reservoir to free the float or poke at it if it had one. Check the wiring for breaks too. Another possibility is the brake portioning valve might be stuck to once side when the brake line when out. Try opening the bleeders on the other corner and pump the brakes hard to free the portioning valve. Not sure if it’s necessary on Toyotas but it fix a similar problem on a GM.

I don't think it can be ABS related since that's has it's oen warning lamp.

Haha. Nah, the E-Brake isn't on. I checked that too. I'll check the float once I get off work here.

tap the side of the reservoir or poke at the float, it could be simply stuck.

I'll do.

Now that I think about it, I don't remember seeing any float when I top the fluid off. It could be that it's stuck down.

I just went out to check it out on my car and it was the float that got stuck down. I brought it up and turned it so it'll lock on the side since there's tabs on the edge of the float, so it doesn't sink back down.

I apreciate all the helps guys. Thanks again!

OK, I'll unlock the float and let it freely floats and what not. Thanks again.

another thing to check is in the back of the break peddle there's a break sensor change that, or re bleed your breaks.

Well, the brake switch is good. Also double bled the system, so they're both good.

Everything's fine now.
