power steering fluid flush??

hey guys, today i was looking over the engine bay and noticed the power steering resivior. the car is 14 yrs old with 167000 miles and i believe the power steering fluid has never been changed or flushed. so have you guys done this? if so, how is it done? thanks

Yes, change it. remove the bottle, clean it out with brake cleaner, get a friend...

install the bottle, fill it with fresh fluid but leave the return line off and shove it in an empty waste bottle. Pull the efi fuse and have your friend crank the engine for a few seconds, refill the fluid bottle, empty the waste bottle, repeat until the fluid runs clear. Do it a few more times with the steering wheel turned all the way to one side and then the other. Put it all back together and check for leaks.

You can use Dexron trans fluid.

...or get a turkey baster and suck out the fluid and fill, do it every 3-6 months and you will have fresh fluid (4 changes should be fine)..do the same with your brake fuild..but get a new baster...
