Is RockAuto shipping always this ridiculous??

Last night I was about to order some 7A-FE gaskets - a throttle body gasket, EGR valve gasket, and an intake manifold gasket set (between the IM halves and where it bolts to the head), for a subtotal of around $15. Not bad.

Then I put in my zip code and the cheapest shipping was $23!!! So that's nearly 40 bucks for $15 worth of parts.

I don't understand why shipping would be that much for flat items that could all be sent in flat padded envelopes. Have fuel costs made THAT much of an impact recently?

Patrick,

While I would agree fuel costs have caused some increases, $23 for shipping seems steep. I was looking at a couple of struts from different businesses and shipping was typically $10 or less. I know on ebay some of the folks/business will make $ on the shipping, but I wouldn't expect that scenario on a company website.

Call them and confirm shipping costs. the computer isnt ALWAYS right. I have had shipping on items I have ordered from other places be less than quoted when the bill was sent.
