Leg Room - Tilting whole seat would help.

I'm 6'4" and haven't sat in many sedans where legroom was awesome. My parents had a Jetta that had a lever beside the seat that tipped the WHOLE seat back, not just the back - that could be operated separately. This keeps one's body and arms the appropriate distance to the wheel but the tilted seat sort of 'lifts' the legs at the knees and seemed to completely solve the legroom issue. I hate having one leg tilted to the side, over the cup holder whatever.

How happy I was when one day I was cleaning my 81 Volvo 240 and found a lever UNDERNEATH the seat!!! Sure enought - a seat tilter!

My S10 didn't have one, so I undid the front seat bolts, loosened the rear, and stacked washers underneath the seat to tilt it back. It worked so-so. Not far enough.

Anyway, I can't find one of these on my Corolla (96). Any suggestions, besides getting another car? ANyone else worked on this? I know I'm not the tallest, nor only taller guy here.

If you want a bolt-in seat replacement. You can get the drivers seat from a 1993-1995 Corolla LE.

Otherwise, if you don't mind a bit of custom work (welding), you can retrofit the seats from a 1988-1991 Corolla GT-S. These seats offered a lowered seating position and adjusted for seatback angle as well. A member by the name of Piloter has them installed in his Corolla.

My Corolla has a knob which adjusts the leg height. Is that what you're talking about? If so, the USDM LE models will have them as PhatRoyale mentioned above.

Here's a photo of the driver's seat in my Corolla which shows the knob:

You called? Welding the rails onto the GTS seats drops them about another inch and there's a knob for lumbar support. I'm 6'6 so I feel your pain, but if I hadn't gotten the pair of seats for $20 and a honored quote on the welding (although the job went way upside-down on time) I would've just gone hunting the LE seats since they bolt right up.

Also they probably would be a little closer to the rest of the upholstry. If you do just one seat it looks odd due to the headrest differences.

6'4 and I fit fine. The cuo holder saws at my leg when it out, but otherwise very comfortable.

Of course there are seats with all kinds of adjustments, but I havent seen any in Toyotas.
