7A -FE swap to 4A- FE

Hi guys. My 93 Corolla's engine is about to die and I found a Geo Prizm at the junk yard that got hit in the back. The motor in the Prizm has just over 100k on it and was wondering if by chance i might be able to use the Geo motor as a replacment without too much trouble. The engine in my Carolla is a 7A-FE ( 1.8 ltr ) and the one in the 1997 Geo is a 4A-FE. Basically is it worth the trouble in swapping it out or is it even possible without too much hassle? Thanks guys.

You should not have too much trouble doing this. What is wrong with the engine in your Corolla?

I have a better idea, buy my parts car and swap my good running engine into your car. its a 93 with 140k miles. You can have the whole car for $300. It runs and drives, getting rid of it because I don't need 3 cars and the trans slipped on me a few times. Drove fine last month when I took it for a spin. I'll even throw in ALL of my spare parts AND the service manual, all if it out the door for $400. You'll never ever get another deal like this.

Carolla

The engine is burning quite a bit of oil and it's only running on three cylinders. No compression on #1 so it's basically shot. There's no point in me replacing the head as the the motor needs a total rebuild. Still runs though but I'm sure it's going to fail pretty soon.

Do you have any pictures of the car and what size engine is in it. I'm located near Champaign IL so it's not too far of a trip to go get it. Let me know .. Thanks

93, 1.8, auto.

PM you the photo's. I'm selling it as a parts car, its not without problems. If you wanted to fix them I'm sure you could just drive it but the repair costs could/would exceed what the cars worth.
