I have a problem with my 1997 Corolla. The fuel tank is leaking (because it was sadly attacked by the rust) and although I can still run on half a tank for a while, I'll need to replace it eventually as it's not convenient. I could get my mecanic to order a tank, but it would cost me around 1000$ (USED!) and seriously, I don't know if it would even be worth it at that price.
So would anyone know of a place where I could purchase a fuel tank for my Corolla at a reasonable price? I've seen places online where they cost 200$ or so (there were even some at 70$...) but I'm very hesitant.
my corolla does the same thing. leaks above half tank. Of this 1000$ quote, how much of that was the tank and how much was labor?
I've got to move there.....and start selling and installing gas tanks...
The 1000$ was for the tank alone, used. I have a friend who had the same problem (wasn't a Corolla though, but I think it comes down to the same thing) and only filled his fuel tank halfway for a looong time, so I'm not in much a hurry for now, it's just very inconvenient
Thanks everyone! It's really the tank that is the problem, no doubt about that. Now that I know that I don't have to pay a fortune to replace it, it's just a matter of finding one
I've used SPI products professionally many times, very good quality fuel tanks, radiators, etc. I've not had any issues with fitment either.
Ah thanks! There's a lot to choose from I see. I was looking for something that was situated in Canada because I've had a bad experience with ordering car parts (unlucky I guess?) that had to ship across the US border, but by looking a bit more I should find something.

You can always have the parts shipped to a package receiving facility in the United States near the border and drive over to pick them up and bring them back yourself. With that, you can avoid the expensive brokerage fees that UPS and Fedex normally like to charge their customers with shipments going over the border to Canada.
