Question recent loss of acceleration

i found some others asking about this, but none of them were too similar.

a while ago, my gf and i decided we were gonna visit her folks out in colorado. which, from where i live, is roughly an 800 mile drive. so to prepare the car (and to catch up on the maintenance), i changed the engine oil and filter, trans fluid and filter (4spd auto A245E), the pre-cat O2 sensor (because of a trouble code), flushed the coolant, and replaced the upper radiator hose. (i also tightened the alternator belt because it was slipping)

we got this car from my gf's father, and as far as i knew, the timing belt had never been changed. so i checked that too, and when i did, i replaced the valve cover gasket and the seals that fit around the tubes for the spark plugs. the belt was fine. (142,600 miles)

due to a weird genetic mutation, i'm the only person in my family that doesn't drive like my pants are on fire. i accelerate easy, brake easy, and coast whenever i can. i also NEVER go above the speed limit, unless going downhill. and since the motor mounts seriously need to be replaced, i hear the engine all the time. so for that reason, when the speed limit out in vegas changed to 75, i stayed at 70. because if i go 75, the engine sounds like it's gonna explode.

but my problem didn't start until the last leg of the journey. there's a section of highway 70 that has a lot of climbs and descents. and as i was going along, i gradually began to notice that i had to put my foot down more and more to accelerate, or to even hold a stable speed. and after a while it wouldn't even do that!

after a bit more, we stopped to stretched, and when i got back on the road, some of the acceleration came back, but then gradually went away again.

could any of my recent repairs be the cause of this?

(sorry about all the backstory. i tend to get carried away sometimes, lol)

Since acceleration came back, your enemy is heat. Could be coolant or something else. Unfortunately when cars get older they get a little quirky so it might take some work to find out the problem or all the problems.
