Steering rack issues

My corolla has been making a squeaking noise when hitting small bumps and slightly turning the wheel. At first I thought it was the inner tie rod since there was side to side play in the wheel and it squeaked from the rack when I wiggled the wheel. I replaced the inner tie rod and the squeaking is still there. What inside the steering rack would cause this play and squeaking. This is on the drivers side wheel. The passenger wheel had no play. Any help is appreciated!

I think you are looking in the wrong place. I've never had a rack "squeak." Further you cant have play in ONE side of the rack.

I figured it out. A control arm bushing was worn out. It's crazy how metal resonates sound so you can't find the source easily!
