Question whats these things called?

#1.the silver "plastic" strip on the left top side of the head-engine by the oil cap?. mines cracked-broken-plastic dry rot brittled around the screw holes.

it just lays on there. it is located where the wire harness in this pic is. on the left side. this pic dosent show one on his engine for some reason. is it just a plastic trim beauty plate?. not needed?.

#2. whats the name of those front fender things called that keep the fender from rattling?. about as long as a screwdriver. just plain fender brace?. anyways thanks.

1. It's just a cover. Throw it away or get another one at the junkyard.

2. I call it a brace.; don't know the official name. If you need one, get that at the junkyard while you're getting the cover.

As mentioned above, the cover on the valve cover is simply just a cover for the alternator wiring loom. It doesn't actually serve a purpose, however it does look better with one fitted in my opinion. They're usually slightly warped near the front due to heat from the valve cover, but they'd be a very cheap part at a junkyard. Just make sure it's not cracked where the bolt holes are as mechanics have a tendency to over-tighten the bolts when they reinstall the valve cover.
